Plant-based Avocado Toast (healthy, easy to prepare and vegan)
Avocado Toast is an easy to prepare and delicious breakfast dish. Not only that, it is a healthier alternative to breakfast dishes commonly eaten in a Western diet.
Plants contain dietary fiber and animal products do not. 97% of the US population does not consume the recommended amounts of fiber. This is one of the benefits of a plant-based diet. This Avocado Toast is rich in dietary fiber, devoid of cholesterol and relatively low in calories.
Here is the easy recipe for a vegan Avocado Toast :
1 medium avocado
3-4 pieces whole grain toast
1 tablespoon finely chopped onions
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon crushed red peppers
Peel the avocado and remove the seed. In a small bowl mash the avocado.
Add the onion, salt and crushed red pepper.
Spread two tablespoons of the avocado mixture on a piece of toast. Repeat with remaining mixture.
Optional: some garnish suggestions are greens (such as arugula), cilantro, tomatoes and limes.
